Category:Public power district
A public power district is generally of two types:
- A (typically rural) electric power co-operative, which is often also involved in communications services and other home services - there are about 900 of these in the USA cooperating through NRECA
- A (typically town or city owned) public utility that is a department of a town or city or other incorporated jurisdiction - there are about 2300 of these in the USA
Some are fully unified district utility services like BVU in Bristol VA or offer at least a wide range of communications services that resemble a very large set of microgrids like EPB in Chattanooga TN.
